First big one goes on show at Art 13 at Olympia, London. At one point a shaft of light came through that lovely curved glass above the Grand Hall, got hold of the picture and played all sorts of illusory games. This picture is the cover of the new book.

The series is now complete and the book just about ready. So before it comes out; a few that didn’t make it. Just to recap… the set of pictures are all taken in the field beside the river at Tilhill on the banks of the river Wey, where I was brought up with my brother […]

As I am editing this series it seems to grow in stature… only to crash back down to earth when I have been working on the files into the night. The series is based on the reappraisal of a particularly familiar place; to turn away from anything predictable and avoid an approach that I might […]

One Stone

In terms of things in place it doesn’t get much more obvious than this. ┬áStonehenge of course and whilst I have a series of pictures all showing the relationship (spatial) between various stones, this one is nicely singular. More of Stonehenge soon I hope.

Last night there was talk about experience and place; interaction and belonging. The idea that what we do in a place begins to shape it… or at least our perception thereof. I chased this picture down from the hard drive that I remember well; my son Jo making that stretch of Essex North Sea …all […]

The cold brings with it a clarity of course… a physicality that makes landscape sharp… ring like a bell. However it seems to me that if you then strip it down in a photograph to a few key elements of colour, shape and tone the place begins to escape that physicality all over again and […]
